Garba
Garba - well, I haven't heard this word before I came to Baroda and its obvious that one would not miss hearing this word, once you are here.
Garba: Is a very graceful form of dance among the Gujaratis and it is peformed on 9 nights, 'Navratri' to Goddess Ambica, where women dance gracefully in circles .They are dressed in exqusitely embridored, set in mirrors 'Choli', 'Ghagra' and 'Bandhani' dupattas, silver oxidised jewellery where in 'Tika' and 'Anklets' are a must! the dress code of men is Kehediyu, Chudidar and a Turban;
In simple terms, Garba goes in synonymous with Navratri - thats 9 nights of dance and splendor, pomp and masti, mixed in the best blend of traditional fervour and modern outlook.Garba in Baroda, the cultural city has it's own highs including the cosmo culture, safe night life, MSU beauties and the backless cholis.
The posted video is of a traditional one being played every night at the Shiv temple, beside my house.
